To gather and disseminate information about programs offered by urban-oriented colleges and universities to serve the urban poor and disadvantaged.
2. The College Board (Washington, D.C. Office) $25,000 in 1978
$245,792 in 1982
Studies of financial aid to low-income urban students. Study of the relation between the academic needs of low-income students and institutional programs intended to serve them.
3. National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges $19,240 in 1981
To develop collaboration between city schools and urban universities.
PILOT AND DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS
1. Alverno College $22,925 in 1981
For a study by the Catholic colleges of Milwaukee (Alverno, Cardinal Stritch, and Mount Mary), to determine the feasibility of developing a "downtown school" to serve the increasing numbers of disadvantaged minorities in greater Milwaukee.
2. The Boston Six $148,000 in 1978
For inter-institutional cooperation among six public higher education institutions in Boston to improve services to the inner-city poor and disadvantaged. Projects include joint planning, counseling, and course registration.
3. City College of New York (City University of New York) $46,666 in 1982
Partial support to plan administrative structure and development activities to meet the needs of CCNY's disadvantaged students.
4. DePaul University $63,840 in 1981
To help DePaul, Loyola University, and Mundelein College develop a system of institutional planning and collaboration to increase Hispanics' access to higher education in Chicago.
