academy, the development of women's studies throughout the world, and the emergence of global feminism as a major theme in the new scholarship on women. Issues relating to third-world women and women and development are a major priority, as are, to a lesser extent, those relating to women in Eastern Europe. A discussion of the new directions developed over the past several years also includes moves into disciplines beyond the humanities and the impact of women's studies on graduate and professional education.
