Summary Description
This is a completely redefined position within the Office of Communications, reflecting a new emphasis on the value of technology in communicating and interacting more effectively with key audiences. The Web Technology Architect reports to the Manager of Web Strategy and works closely with that role to plan and implement the engineering and database components of all web projects. Working in collaboration with the full Office of Communications team, the technologist will be responsible for recommending and implementing internet technologies that are consistent with the support and advance the broader communication objectives and strategy. As guided by the Web Strategy Manager, the Web Technology Architect will also work with the Office of Program Management, Information Services and the Information Technology group as well as outside designers, production personnel and information architects to design and build interactive web projects. The Web Technology Architect will also supervise software, database and production work by vendors and consultants in order to meet project goals. The Web Technology Architect will work within an ongoing program of rapid development cycles for continuous enhancement of website functionality. The Web Technology Architect will be responsible for the health and stability of the Foundation's public website systems including all troubleshooting and maintenance. The Web Technology Architect will also play a thinking and advisory role for the foundation on how the external website can best be integrated with other foundation systems and with third party technologies in ways that advance the foundation's mission.

Qualifications
• Demonstrated understanding of the role that new technologies can play in advancing foundation objectives on the internet • Proven ability to drive innovation and define web technology strategy • Experience planning and engineering complex internet applications built using .Net Component/Template based frameworks • Mastery of these technologies: Microsoft .NET, COM+/MTS, ASP(+), DHTML, XML, SOAP • Mastery of these languages: C#, C++, JavaScript, VB, Perl, Java, XSLT, Action script • Mastery of object oriented programming • Strong experience with the design of database architectures and with complex database implementations, particularly SQL • Demonstrated commitment to W3C web standards based development • Experience developing custom content management systems • Fluency in all aspects of site development • Strong experience and understanding of web delivered rich interface applications including AJAX, Macromedia Flash and Flex • Management/supervisory experience in large software development projects • Experience managing technology and software engineering vendors • Excellent analytical, oral, written, and presentation skills; strong attention to detail • Experience working successfully in team environment, including diplomacy, excellent verbal communications, and vibrant and successful interpersonal relations • Masters Degree in related field • Minimum 7 years experience.
