Summary Description
The Director of Private Equity will be a member of the senior management team responsible for managing The Ford Foundation's endowment. S/He has the responsibility for managing all aspects of portfolio construction and portfolio management for the Foundation's Private Equity portfolio, including recommending overall investment strategy, identifying investment opportunities, allocating assets among various private equity strategies, evaluating manager performance, and managing a portfolio of distributed public equity securities.

Qualifications
• Minimum of seven to ten years of manager selection experience with a focus on analyzing and recommending global private equity investments. • A network of relationships in the endowment and foundation community, especially in private equity and hedge fund investments. • Experience managing a team. • Experience constructing and executing investment and asset allocation strategies for a broad portfolio managed by a team approach is strongly preferred but not required. • Proven ability to think strategically, analyze critically, and to translate ideas and insights into investment performance through viable strategies. • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. • A keen sense of talent and an ability to read people and organizations which can be used in identifying and assessing the capabilities of fund partners. • A strong understanding of the financial markets and the business, legal and accounting issues involved in evaluating and investing in private equity and hedge funds. • Team-oriented individual and collaborative work style. • Strong leadership skills such as flexibility, diplomacy, empathy and good listening skills. • A self-starter. • Intellectually-curious. • A high integrity individual with uncompromising ethics. • Must be able and willing to undertake extensive domestic and international travel when necessary.
