Ever-changing economies require the development of skills that are transportable and enable people to adapt to change. We support efforts to increase the supply of good jobs and provide opportunities for poor and disadvantaged people to acquire marketable skills and develop the resources necessary to get and keep good jobs. Good jobs are those that pay sustainable wages and offer career advancements, allowing workers to accumulate financial assets.
We employ market-oriented strategies that address demand and supply issues in labor markets and promote job availability for low-income people. We also seek improvements in policies that support the development of skills among unemployed and underemployed people and that provide a range of work supports, including paid leave, the Earned Income Tax Credit and food stamps, which help families make ends meet and promote job retention.
We support efforts to increase the supply of good jobs and provide opportunities that enable people to obtain marketable skills and the resources necessary to get and keep good jobs.
