Afsaneh Beschloss Joins Ford Foundation Board of Trustees



New York, N.Y., April 12, 2002 - The election of Afsaneh Mashayekhi Beschloss to the Ford Foundation Board of Trustees was announced by Paul A. Allaire, chairman of the Board. Mrs. Beschloss, who will join the Board at its May 2002 meeting, is CEO and President of the Carlyle Asset Management Group, based in Washington, D.C. and New York. Formerly Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer of the World Bank, Mrs. Beschloss had earlier managed its Derivatives and Structured Products area and its Energy and Infrastructure projects in developing countries. Before joining the World Bank, she worked for J.P. Morgan in corporate finance in London and New York and for Shell International Group Planning in London. She taught International Trade and Economic Development at Oxford University, from which she holds an M.Phil. (Honours) in Economics. Mrs. Beschloss is a Trustee of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and WETA public television in Washington, D.C. and a member of the Board of Directors of Temple-Inland, Inc.
